Secondary school can be a place where you are given amazing opportunites that you might never experience again. However, it is also a place where people show there true colours - and not in a good way. People start to judge, stare and be mean. Everyone goes through it, but some harsher than others.
Despite how badly it is for you I have some tips that will help you through your school years.
1). Be yourself. You're probably thinking everyone says that/how cringe etc. but it's true. If you aren't true to yourself and people like the person that isn't really you, one day they will notice that you act differently at school to home. Everyone has unique qualities and that's what makes them who they are.
2) Be comfortable in your own skin. If you aren't comfortable with who you are, you will struggle to make friends and take part in activities. I know it sounds crazy that you will find it hard to do such easy things but when you feel happy about yourself you will just naturally find friends that are like you.
3) Be confident. If you show yourself as a confident person people won't pick you as there victim. Why, you say? Well, bullies target weak people not strong, confident ones. Being confident shows how strong you are as a person and you will be able to deal with the meaness(if that's even a word) and the bullies will see it's not affecting you.
I hope this quick blog post can help some of you with school, because I know it can be a cruel place sometimes. If you stick with your friends, and you support each other, if something bad happens, you will always have someone by your side. I know that for sure.
See you all very soon,
Love Ciara x
